Specialist dyslexia testing is available for children across Liverpool and surrounding areas.
For children and young people aged 8–16 in Liverpool area
Hello, I’m Sarah.
I am a qualified teacher and SENCo with over 15 years of experience working in primary education. Throughout my career I have supported many children who find aspects of learning, particularly reading, spelling and writing, more challenging than their peers.
Over time, I became increasingly interested in understanding why some children struggle with literacy despite being bright, capable learners. This led me to undertake specialist postgraduate training in dyslexia assessment.
If you’re here, you may be worried about your child’s reading, spelling or progress at school.
Many parents notice that their child is trying extremely hard but still finding learning more difficult than their peers. Homework may take much longer than it should, reading may feel slow or tiring, and confidence can begin to dip.
A specialist dyslexia assessment can help provide clear answers — explaining why learning feels difficult and what support will help your child succeed.
About me
I am a qualified primary school teacher with over 15 years of experience working with children across Key Stage 2, including many pupils with additional learning needs. For the past 10 years, I have also been a SENCo, working closely with families, teachers, and external professionals to ensure that children with additional needs receive the right support. I am experienced in managing a wide range of referrals and guiding families through the Education, Health and Care (EHC) process, including assessments, annual reviews, and specialist provision requests.
Alongside my teaching career, I have completed specialist postgraduate training in dyslexia assessment and hold a Level 7 qualification in specialist assessment practice.
I also hold a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC), which means my diagnostic assessments meet recognised professional standards and my reports can be used as evidence for exam access arrangements and further support where appropriate.
As I continue to work within schools, my assessments and recommendations are grounded in real classroom experience, ensuring that the advice provided is practical and meaningful for both families and teachers.

Why I created Clarity Path Dyslexia
Through my work in schools, I regularly meet children who are bright, capable and full of potential, yet find reading, spelling or writing far more difficult than their peers. Often these children have spent years working harder than everyone else, becoming frustrated or losing confidence along the way. I established Clarity Path Dyslexia to help families gain clear understanding and practical guidance.
A thorough assessment not only identifies whether dyslexia is present but also provides a detailed profile of a child’s strengths and areas of difficulty, allowing parents and schools to put the right support in place.
What families can expect
✔ A calm and supportive assessment experience - Children often arrive feeling nervous. I take time to build rapport so they feel relaxed and able to show their true abilities.
✔ A detailed understanding of how your child learns - The assessment explores reading, spelling, memory, phonological processing and other key learning skills.
✔ Clear explanations for parents - The report explains results in straightforward language so you understand exactly what they mean.
✔ Practical recommendations - You will receive clear strategies and adjustments that schools can use to support your child effectively.
Supporting families across Liverpool
Clarity Path Dyslexia provides private dyslexia assessments for children across Liverpool and surrounding areas, including Garston, Allerton, Mossley Hill and South Liverpool.
Assessments take place in a calm and comfortable assessment space in Garston (L19).
Supporting children beyond assessment
While assessments provide valuable insight into a child’s learning profile, many families also want practical support to help their child move forward. Alongside my assessment work, I offer a small number of specialist literacy support sessions for children with dyslexia or dyslexia-type difficulties. These sessions focus on developing key skills such as phonological awareness, reading accuracy, spelling strategies and confidence with literacy tasks. Support is structured and tailored to the individual child’s learning profile and the recommendations from their assessment. As the primary focus of my practice is diagnostic assessment, availability for these sessions is limited.
Many parents come to me saying:
• “My child works so hard but still struggles with reading.”
• “Homework takes hours and ends in tears.”
• “I feel like something isn’t quite right but I don't know what.”
A specialist assessment can provide clarity and a clear path forward.
