Terms and conditions
These Terms and Conditions apply to all dyslexia assessment services provided by Clarity Path Dyslexia. By booking an assessment, you agree to the terms outlined below.
Scope of Service
Clarity Path Dyslexia provides specialist dyslexia assessments for children up to the age of 16 years. Assessments are conducted in a child-centred, ethical and evidence-based manner and are aligned with SASC guidance. The assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis or any specific educational provision.
What does a Dyslexia assessment entail?
A dyslexia assessment is a gentle and supportive way to understand how your child learns. Through a range of carefully chosen activities, we explore reading, spelling, writing and numeracy, as well as skills such as memory, processing speed and phonological awareness. The assessment usually lasts around three hours and is paced to suit your child. Our aim is to create a calm, friendly and reassuring environment where children feel relaxed, confident and able to do their best.
Who will carry out your assessment?
Your child’s assessment will be carried out by me personally. I am a qualified specialist teacher and dyslexia assessor, registered with the Specific Learning Difficulties Assessment Standards Committee (SASC), and I hold a current Assessment Practising Certificate. Alongside this, I am an experienced Key Stage 2 teacher, with a strong understanding of the curriculum and the everyday challenges children can face in the classroom. All assessments and reports are completed in line with nationally recognised guidance for identifying specific learning differences, giving families clear, professional and trustworthy outcomes.
Before the assessment
Appointments can be arranged by phone, email or message, and all bookings will be confirmed by email. To ensure smooth communication, both an email address and phone number are required at the time of booking.
Prior to the assessment, you will be asked to complete a background information form about your child. This information is an essential part of the assessment process and allows a full and accurate report to be written. The more detail you are able to share, the better this will inform the assessment and any recommendations made.
It is important that your child has had an eyesight check within the last 12 months. If your child wears glasses, these should be brought along on the day of the assessment.
You will also be asked to share a short background questionnaire with your child’s school for them to complete. This helps to build a fuller picture of your child’s learning across different settings and supports clear, well-informed conclusions within the report.
During the assessment
Throughout the assessment, care is taken to ensure your child feels comfortable, supported and treated with professionalism at all times. The activities are designed to help your child show their true abilities in a calm and positive way.
If your child has any additional needs or may require specific adjustments, this is encouraged to be shared in advance so the assessment can be adapted appropriately.
For children under the age of 16, a parent or carer will be asked to remain contactable throughout the assessment and to provide a phone number in case they are needed. Your child’s wellbeing is always the priority. If at any point they become distressed or overwhelmed, the assessment may be paused or rearranged to ensure the experience remains supportive and positive.
What happens post-assessment?
Following the assessment, a clear and detailed report is written to explain the findings and to suggest practical ways your child can be supported with their learning. The report will be emailed to you within four weeks.
If the report is needed sooner, an expedited service may be available for an additional charge, subject to availability.
Once you have had time to read the report, a follow-up conversation can be arranged if you would like to talk through the outcomes or ask any questions.
Where do assessments take place, and with whom?
Assessments can take place either in a quiet office based in Garston (L19) or in your child’s home. If a home assessment is chosen, it is important that a calm, distraction-free space can be provided so your child can feel settled and focused. Depending on the location, an additional travel charge may apply.
If you would prefer the assessment to take place at your child’s school, this can also be arranged for a small additional fee.
Fees and Payment
All fees are discussed and agreed before an assessment is booked. To secure an appointment, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required, with the remaining balance due the day before the assessment takes place.
Bookings can only be confirmed once the deposit has been received. In line with this, reports are completed once full payment has been made.
Cancellations
Cancellations will result in the loss of the deposit.
Complaints
Any concerns should be raised in writing and will be responded to promptly and professionally.
